Tuesday Night Meditation: Awakening Dignity

With Peter Woods In person & online

Join us Tuesday nights for a simple, welcoming hour of meditation, reflection, and community. Drawing on meditation practices from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, this weekly gathering is open to everyone—whether you are completely new to meditation, have practiced in another tradition, or are looking for a supportive community in which to deepen your practice.

This fall, we will continue to use Awakening Dignity, a six-month meditation curriculum developed by Phakchok Rinpoche and offered through Samye Institute, as a guide for our practice and conversation. Awakening Dignity explores how meditation can help us reconnect with our basic goodness and innate dignity, work skillfully with difficult emotions, and meet the challenges of everyday life with greater stability, clarity, and kindness.

Before the summer break, our group completed the first three months of the curriculum. This fall we will pick up with Month Four, exploring the Four Immeasurables, before continuing into Months Five and Six. At the same time, each Tuesday gathering stands on its own. No previous participation, familiarity with Awakening Dignity, or commitment to Buddhism is necessary, and drop-ins are always welcome.

Each gathering includes brief meditation instruction, time to practice together, and space for reflection, discussion, and questions. While our approach is rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist contemplative tradition, the emphasis is simple and practical: learning to work with our minds and hearts and bringing greater awareness and compassion into daily life.

Those who would like to go deeper are welcome to explore the Awakening Dignity online course.

Come as you are, whenever you can. Tuesday Night Meditation is intended above all as a welcoming place to meditate together, learn the foundations of practice, and share the support of a practice community.

As a Tsadra Scholar, Peter earned his second master’s degree in Buddhist Studies in 2019. During his studies, Peter became involved with Samye Translations and played a key…
