Who we are
Samye New York runs this website at www.samyenewyork.org. If you have a question about this page, or about anything we hold about you, write to [email protected].
What we collect
Very little. You can read almost all of this site without telling us anything.
- Messages you send us. If you write to us through a form on this site, we receive your name, your email address and what you wrote, so that we can reply.
- Server records. Our host keeps ordinary web server logs, which include the IP address of each request. We use them to keep the site running and to investigate abuse.
- Cookies. This site sets a cookie only if you sign in or leave a comment. It carries no advertising cookie and no third-party tracker.
- Visit counts. We use Google Analytics to see how many people read each page. It records a shortened form of your IP address and the pages you open. We cannot identify you from it.
Who handles it for us
This site runs on hosting from Cloudways, and the email it sends goes out through an email delivery service. Google processes the visit counts. Each of them works to our instructions and may not use your information for their own ends.
How long we keep it
We keep messages you send us for as long as the conversation is useful, then delete them. Our host keeps server logs for a short period and then overwrites them. Google Analytics holds visit counts for up to 14 months.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected] and we will answer. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If the site starts handling information differently, we will rewrite this page and change the date at the top.
