Summer Seminar 2026

With Phakchok Rinpoche

Awakening Dignity · Transformation · Realization

We warmly welcome our local and international sangha to Phakchok Rinpoche’s annual Summer Seminar at Samye Hermitage New York in Cooperstown. This stand-alone week of teaching and practice marks the culminating seminar of the Samye Institute Summer Immersion, while remaining fully open and complete as an independent program for both new and seasoned practitioners.

Over the course of the week, participants are guided through a coherent and integrated path encompassing Awakening Dignity, Transformation, and Realization, offering a full arc of contemplative training grounded in lived experience.

The seminar opens on Tuesday evening with a public talk on Awakening Dignity, welcoming the wider Cooperstown community and introducing meditation grounded in innate human goodness, embodied presence, and care. On Wednesday (Medicine Buddha Day), teachings and practice further establish dignity and healing as the ground of the path, cultivating clarity, balance, and compassion for oneself and others.

On Thursday, Rinpoche introduces Mahamudra meditation—the Path of Transformation—offering direct instruction and pointing-out guidance that supports recognition, stabilization, and growing confidence in natural awareness. Friday (Guru Rinpoche Day) deepens this recognition and opens into Vajrayana view and practice, bridging Mahamudra and Mahayoga. Rinpoche will guide tsok practice and offer teachings on devotion, blessing, and awareness appearing as sacred display, including instruction on confession through the Yeshe Kuchok, presented as a Vajrayana method for clearing obscurations and restoring confidence in awareness rather than self-judgment.

From Saturday through Monday, the seminar turns to The Dohas of Saraha, classical songs of realization that point directly to the nature of mind as lived experience. Through these teachings, Rinpoche explores how realization matures through simplicity, release of fixation, and trust—integrating meditation with daily life, relationship, and conduct. The seminar concludes with empowerment and guidance on sustaining Mahamudra practice over time, emphasizing continuity, humility, and confidence in awareness as the heart of realization.

Who Is This For?

This seminar is open to all who feel a sincere interest in engaging these teachings, whether you are new to meditation or a long-time practitioner. The week offers a complete and integrated path of study and practice, meeting participants where they are while supporting deepening confidence, clarity, and realization.

This Summer Seminar is part of Phakchok Rinpoche’s annual teaching cycle at Samye Hermitage New York and serves as the culminating week of the Samye Institute Summer Immersion. While the Immersion provides extended, structured training over multiple weeks, this seminar stands fully on its own, and participants are warmly welcome to attend this week independently. Those interested in a longer, immersive course of study are also invited to explore the Samye Institute Summer Immersion.
